Have you ever had one of those days when you are inspired to start something in your workshop only to discover that the object that has captured your attention happens to be the most un-photographed, hard to see object in the film universe?

...hence the beginnings of my journey building the U.S.C.S.S. Nostromo.

All I really had to go by in the beginning was a copy of the Nostromo kit from Halcyon that a buddy of mine leant to me. A few years later, he would allow me to trade quite a bit of Star Trek stuff for the Nostromo kit to stay with me.

I thought I would start out simple: take the Halcyon kit and multiply by two in all directions. This would make my model twice the size, four times the surface area, and eight times the volume. (Did I get that right?)

Sheet plastic, model bits, plastic drinking classes, 25 cent machine bubble cases, tank treads...you name it, INCLUDING A VERY SMALL kitchen sink to complete the task! (It has since fallen off and disappeared.) For all of you out there that might know this ship like I do, you might be able to catch some of the mistakes that still haunt me to this day, however, I'm the only one complaining about it so I started work on another Nostromo; 4 feet long this time!

This picture shows some up-close detail on the Nostromo.
